The History and Geography Museum of Jeseníky Region organizes a conference in Jeseník every year in cooperation with the Regional State Archive Jeseník. The conference revolves around a different topic each year; this time, participants are going to talk about environmental issues.
For the first time, a group of young people in cooperation with the Youth Platform of the European Talent Support Network are participating in the event. An international team of at most 10 people from the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland will attend a field trip before the conference, examining different questions and aspects of ecology and environment-friendly solutions. The exact topic will be decided together by the team, Mr. Pavel Rušar, director of the History and Geography Museum of Jeseníky Region and leader of the project, and Lukaš Kyzlik, project manager of the Youth Platform of the European Talent Support Network. The conclusions of the field trip lead by a professional tutor will be presented at the conference in September, then published in a scientific journal.
The opportunity is open to people aged 11 to 16, and three Hungarian students are taking part in the project. These students spend 5 days as part of the field trip in June first, then help write the scientific article online. Necessary equipment, accommodation, and meals are provided by the Czech organizers.
Apart from scientific research, the main goal of the event is offering an opportunity for talented young people from the Central European region to cooperate with international team members and gain experience about the methodology of academic research. This experience may be very useful for them in later academic life. Based on the example of this event, young members of the Youth Platform of the European Talent Support Network are planning to cooperate in more events similar to this one.
