Kinga Gál, Hungarian member of the European Parliament initiated the issue of a Written Declaration on the importance of talent support. Together with her fellow members Mojca Kleva (SL), Barbara Lochbihler (D)és Hannu Takkula (FIN) they submitted the text of the Declaration on the 19th of November 2012.

According to the rules of procedure of the European Parliament for the acceptance of a Written Declaration the majority of the representatives should accept the initiative in the following 90 days i.e. until the 19th February 2013.

In 2011, at the European Conference on Talent Support, during the Hungarian presidency of the European Union the representatives of 24 countries accepted a declaration on talent support creating an important step to this initiative.

Talent support is an important issue of every nation of Europe and in the collective interest of the whole European Union. The attention of the decision makers of the member countries and the European Commission should be called to the importance of the support of young people with high ability.

The European Talent Centre sent a delegation composed of young gifted Hungarians to Strasbourg aiming to convince the members of the European Parliament to join the Hungarian initiative.
