New Programs of Network of Youth Excellence (NYEX)

17-19 October 2014

Network of Youth Excellence (NYEX) aims to motivate and train high-school students and undergraduate university students to become future researchers, while introducing them to the international scientic community. The activities of NYEX members and fellows range from camps, seminars, conferences and workshops to festivals and popular science lectures. The network promotes and shares information about student exchanges, student presentation opportunities, mentor/teacher exchanges, contests and ideas for science demonstrations and curricula.

The start of the new school and academic year provides an opportunity to introduce new educational programs, initiate new activities and to announce few of the forthcoming international programs initiated by or associated with the NYEX network.

The 2014 NYEX conference will be held in Heilbronn, Germany, on October 17-19 2014. Though it will take place in the fall of 2014, registration and preparation may start much earlier.

NYEX Science Fair will be held in conjunction with NYEX Conference. The Science Fair will provide an opportunity for NYEX member top students to present their project in an international meeting. School graduates or students at their last school year will be nominated by their institution. This early announcement may provide each NYEX organization enough time to select the proper candidates and help them preparing their English presentation.

WebValley International 2014 is a 3 week program for 17-18 years old students offering team work associated with computer simulation, machine learning and bioinformatics in a multidisciplinary context. Typically it is held in July, but the registration starts already in April. Few foreign students may attend this predominantly Italian program, and maybe entitled to scholarship offered by the organizers.

Sustainergy 3 will be held in Israel, in the southern desert area, in November 2014. Much like the previous two Sustainergy workshop, this one is devoted to sustainable energy issues, focusing this time on transportation.  Students will work in multinational teams. Most foreign and some Israeli participants will be nominated NYEX members. All participants travel, tuition and accommodation expenses are provided by the organizers. Registration will probably take place in March or April to allow enough time for pre-workshop remote team work via the Internet.
