PVS 1 is a general primary school with additional activities for gifted students – including: talent focus days, dual language primary schooling and extracurricular courses for highly gifted students.
To be awarded with the Vienna City Award for Schools Promoting Giftedness the following quality criteria must be fulfilled:
- School profile must include concepts of promoting giftedness
- Steering groups are implemented
- a minimum of 25% of teachers underwent training in promoting giftedness
- „revolving door models“ or „pull out programms“ are part of the school concept
- working with portfolios
- further individual support measures (studios, participation in competitions, …) are being applied
- information for and cooperation with parents
- specific further training
- documentation and evaluation
